Rim Drive is a 33-mile scenic highway inside the Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. It is basically a loop that goes around the caldera rim of the Crater Lake. It is one of the top highlights of the site, proving to be the most popular part of the area.
The Rim Drive was built in 1926 to 1941 by the National Park Service, Bureau of Public Roads, and the Civilian Conservation Corps. It was designed to blend into its natural surroundings, which was spectacularly accomplished by its builders. It was accented with rustic stone guardrails at selected points.
The Rim Drive is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is a declared US Historic District. It is open year round, although, heavy snowfall in the area could be quite a problem to those who plan to travel during the winter months.
