Wallowa Lake Tramway, also affectionately referred to as "America's Little Switzerland, is an aerial cable gondola lift which runs from the floor of the Wallowa Valley to the top of Mount Howard. The four-person gondola runs for fifteen minutes, 1.83 miles up to an elevation of 8,000 feet (2,400 m) above sea level and provides breathtaking views of the Eagle Cap Wilderness area and the rest of the Wallowa Mountains. The tram is the steepest four-person gondola in North America.

The Summit Grill and Alpine Patio, Oregon?s highest restaurant, sits at the top of Mount Howard providing visitors the best view while having lunch. Visitors can also explore the area's trails and lookouts and be charmed by the alpine wilderness.

The tramway was built in 1968 and opened for service in 1970. Today, the Wallowa Lake Tramway is designated as the "Best View in Oregon."
