Located in a portion of the Rogue River that was declared as a National Wild and Scenic River is the Whisky Creek Cabin. It is the oldest existing mining cabin in the area, being built around the 1880s. Thanks to its remote location, the structure hasn?t been changed much despite being more than a century old.
The Whisky Creek Cabin is currently owned by the Bureau of Land Management after being purchased by the agency in 1973. It was then added on the National Register of Historic Places two years later in 1975.
The Whisky Creek Cabin can be accessed for self-guided tours. The bureau has installed interpretive signs all over the place to help visitors get around. Folks can boat, hike, and camp in the site.
