Constructed in 1912, the Arcade Building is a historic site in the city of Columbia, South Carolina. It was built by the Equitable Real Estate Company, which is a group of local entrepreneurs noted for having prominent figures in its membership. The building is also noted for being the only enclosed arcade building in the city.
The Arcade Building is believed to have been built with the total cost of $200,000. It is a good example of the second Renaissance Revival Style. It is two stories tall and is equipped with terra cotta and marble facades. It employs a skylight to light the passage.
The Arcade Building is the first indoor shopping center in Columbia. This, along with its architectural significance, allowed it to land a spot on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
