The Berkeley Museum, located on Stony Landing in Moncks Corner, is a 5,600 state-of-the- art exhibit building that is recognized as one of the most valuable historic assets and fascinating facility that allows visitors to trace its area?s history starting from 12,000 years ago. The Museum features significant periods, events, people, and other elements that have contributed to the development of the area. This includes Indian residents of the Ice Age, the "Swamp Fox" Francis Marion's Revolution battles, planters in the early settlement, and many more.

Through the collection and displays, the Berkeley Museum is able to provide an entertaining and lively approach to promoting the rich history of Berkeley County. The Museum is also developing a research library as well as an archives section.

The Museum features local artists as well in its temporary galleries for a period of about 2 months.

One of the Museum?s displays CSS David?s history as well as its replica. The CSS David is a semi-submersible torpedo boat constructed during the Civil War when the area was still known as Stony Landing. It was a significant part of history for making the first torpedo attack on the Union sub the New Ironsides.
