Located near Moncks Corner, South Carolina is the Biggin Church Ruins. The site traces its history back to 1711 when the first church was constructed. It served as the worship place of the parish of St. John?s Berkeley.
The Biggin Church Ruins is the remains of the church built in 1761. The church was burned down thrice during its existence. It was rebuilt and then burned down again. It was used up until the Civil War years and then burned down again, this time in a forest fire, after a couple of years of being neglected.
Today, only two walls remain in the Biggin Church Ruins. Most of the bricks were scavenged and used for other construction projects. It was then listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
