The Black Bike Week is an event in Atlantic Beach, South Carolina that was started in the 1980s as a response to the discrimination some attendees feel towards the Myrtle Beach Bike Week. The organizing of this event is quite a historical feat as it was brought by a controversy. It is widely attended by African American bike riders, as suggested by the name.
The Black Bike Week traces its root back to the time when the Atlantic Beach was the only beach were blacks are permitted to go to. The event soon became something not only for riders, as other events started to attract more participants.
Today, the Black Bike Week is known to be the largest African American motorcycle rally in the United States. With its regular attendance amounting up to 400,000 people, it has easily ranked as one of the largest motorcycle rallies in the country.
