Located just east of Chesnee, South Carolina, the Cowpens National Battlefield also known as the Cowpens National Battlefield Park stands just a couple of miles away from the state line of North Carolina. The 842-acre area is historically significant mostly for being the site where the Battle of Cowpens took place in 1781.
The Battle of Cowpens is a decisive Revolutionary War victory, led by Brigadier General Daniel Morgan. Winning it allowed the reconquering of the South Carolina territories from the rule of the British.
Today, the Cowpens National Battlefield is preserved as a park by the National Park Service. It features a walking tour of the battlefield, a museum with American Revolution exhibits, and a reconstructed log cabin owned by a Robert Scruggs before the area was turned into a park.
