The E. A. Scheper House traces its history back to 1896 by E. A. Scheper. However, like many other houses in the area that dates back to the 19th century, records of this property aren?t really being helpful. What?s for sure is that it was bought and acquired by a new owner in the mid 1930s and in 1938, maybe in an attempt to restore the house, works were done that is considered by many as an almost rebuilding of the historic building.
The thing about the said 1938 renovation project of the E. A. Scheper House is that it managed to give the house a new look. From its exterior Victorian style, it was given an antebellum feel. The rooms inside were worked on as well. They were mainly enlarged while expert cabinetmakers worked on installing mantels that are exquisitely carved.
The E. A. Scheper House is currently functioning as a bed and breakfast.
