The First Baptist Church is an 1859 religious building in Columbia, South Carolina. It is the second church building of the congregation that was formed in 1809.

The first church building of the church was built in 1811 in Sumter Street. It was the first brick church in the town, making it quite a memorable one. It is where the South Carolina Baptist Convention was organized. It burned down in 1865.

The current First Baptist Church building was completed in 1859. It was named the Boyce Chapel after a specific and notable member, Dr. James P. Boyce, who took specific lengths to raise money for the church?s construction. It still serves its religious functions until today. The site was declared as a National Historic Landmark in 1973.
