There are many things that make the Foster?s Tavern a historic site. To better enumerate all the justifications of its National Register of Historic Places listing, here are some facts that made it historically significant:
1. It is located at the very intersection of two well known stagecoach routes, the Pickneyville and Georgia roads.
2. Its architecture is strikingly unique and distinctive to being an inn during the past, making it a well known landmark in the upcountry for more than 150 years now. Started in 1801 and was technically completed by 1808 although additions were done in 1845 and 1915, the Foster?s Tavern is a mansion that required a lot of work.
3. It regularly welcomed notable figures like John Calhoun and Bishop Francis Asbury under its roof.
4. It appeared on the 1825 Robert Mills atlas.
