The Hobcaw Barony is a huge tract of land located in the county of Georgetown, South Carolina. It was established in 1930, but its history goes back to the 18th century when the land was used and developed as a plantation for rice crops.

The Hobcaw Barony served various purposes in the past. In the 18th and 19th century, it was used by several land plantations. When the wealthy philanthropist, investor, and political advisor Bernard M. Baruch bought the land in the early 1900s, it was then transformed to a winter resort. His daughter Belle Baruch expanded the land area and established the Bellefield Plantation which was transformed into an educational institute for forestry and marine biology later on.

Today, the Hobcaw Barony is operated by the Belle W. Baruch Foundation.
