The Miles Brewton House is best known to be the ?finest town house? that was built during the American colonial period. It was constructed for Miles Brewton in the mid to late 1760s, in a particular design known as the ?double house?.
The fact that the Miles Brewton House had four main rooms per floor made it really stand out from its contemporaries. It is also one of the most complete Georgian townhouses in the country. It is richly ornamented inside and out, and is quite a stunning structure even until today.
Of course, the Miles Brewton House has also had its share of historic participation. These details, combined with its architecture, helped it become a National Historic Landmark in 1960.
