Located in the city of Conway, South Carolina is the Old Horry County Courthouse. The old courthouse is a historic building built around 1824 and 1825. It is believed to have been designed by Robert Mills, a highly esteemed South Carolina architect during the early 1800s. The theories were made feasible by the fact that Mills was still in the South Carolina Board of Public Works during the building?s time of construction.
Aside from its alleged association with Robert Mills, the Old Horry County Courthouse is also notable for its architecture. It is in the Classic revival style made out of brick. It also features Doric columns that shelter a second story portico.
The Old Horry County Courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971 and currently serves as the Conway City Hall.
