The Pon Pon Chapel is a historic religious site in Jacksonboro, South Carolina. The current structure was built in the 1820s, in the Parker?s Ferry Road, which was once a busy stagecoach road that connects the cities of Charleston, South Carolina and Savannah, Georgia.
However, the Pon Pon Chapel can trace its history earlier than the 1800s. It was actually initially established in 1725 through a General Assembly Act. This allowed the construction of the chapel of ease in the area.
The Pon Pon Chapel served as one of the two churches for the St.
Bartholomew?s Parish right after the Yemassee War. Two chapels were needed then because the plans of a parish church were aborted during the days of the war.
