Established in 1935, the Rainbow Court is a historic hotel complex created to accommodate the gush of visitors flooding to the resort city. Since Myrtle Beach was still being established as a vacation destination around that time, it was the right time to put up businesses connected to tourism and commercial lodging.
The Rainbow Court is primarily historically significant for this fact. As the resort city boomed around 1926 to 1956, the rising of the hotel complex became closely associated with the development and growth period of the area. Today, it is one of the top examples of the area?s past, with its two motel-type buildings, five beach cottages or boarding houses, and one house, it is a great illustration of the small scale lodging venues in the area that pre-dates the 1954 Hurricane Hazel.
