Built in around the year 1838, the Robert William Roper House is a historic site in Charleston, South Carolina. This old home is mostly notable for its excellent architecture, allowing it to stand out, not only during its initial completion, but up until today.
Although, its architect is not recorded, expert theories point it to Edward B. White and Charles F. Reichardt. Whichever of the two did work on the place, he did an excellent job. The house managed to clearly portray the architectural trend of residential houses at the time, which was mostly on a grandiose scale. This is best represented by the house?s outsized colonnade which was not only meant for the portico?s support, but also so people can admire it from across the harbor.
