The Sitton House is the first brick residence in Pendleton. It was built in 1859 for John Bradley Sitton, a prominent local and the town?s former mayor, and wife Celena J. Norton. The bricks used for the construction was made by the slaves in the back yard of the house.

Sitton worked as the postmaster of Pendleton from the year 1835 to 1865. When the Sitton House was completed, he moved the post office in its southeast room, which is now a living room. The house is still home to descendants to the John Bradley Sitton even after five generations after its completion.

The beautiful brick Sitton House has been restored a couple of times in the past. It is currently listed as a part of the Pendleton Historic District.
