The South Carolina State Armory is a historic building in Columbia, South Carolina. It was built in 1905 for the National Guard after the design of William Augustus Edwards and Frank C. Walter. It was initially used as an armory.
The South Carolina State Armory served as one of the first armories in the country to veer away from the usual medieval crenellated model. It provided a new solution that represented well the new spirit and vigor of the National Guard. It served the 118th Infantry and medical detachment and also housed the 263rd Coast Artillery.
In 1964, the National Guard vacated the South Carolina State Armory. It was then transformed to a private building, currently used for offices. It was also listed on the National Register in 1999.
