Also known as the St. James Episcopal Church, Santee, the St. James Episcopal Church is an essential historic spot in the McClellanville and Georgetown areas in South Carolina. It traces its history back to 1706 when the parish was initially organized. It was the first Church of England congregation outside Charleston.

The current building of the St. James Episcopal Church wasn?t constructed until the 1760s, however. It was completed in 1768 and served as the fourth structure of the sort for the parish. Most of the members were former French Huguenots and English settlers who are flocking to the area. Some language issues arose at first, but in time, with the intermarriages, the problem was resolved on its own eventually.
