The St. Mary Help of Christians Church is a historic religious site in Aiken, South Carolina. It traces its history back to 1867, when the first church building was constructed. Sadly, that structure was damaged by a tornado in 1878. The site is composed of two buildings, the St. Claire?s Chapel and the St. Mary Help of Christians Church.

The St. Claire?s Chapel was built in 1879. Some say that it was designed by James Renwick, Jr., the same guy who designed the Smithsonian Institution Building and the St. Patrick?s Cathedral, which is possible, granted certain circumstances. The St. Mary Help of Christians Church was constructed around the 1930s. It was built to answer the congregation?s need of more space as they are growing rapidly in number.
