The Strawberry Chapel is a historic religious site in Berkeley County, South Carolina. It goes a long way back, tracing its history to James Child, an English settler who was granted 1200 acres of land on Strawberry Bluff.

In this land rose the town of Childsbury. Sadly, the location was very far from its neighbouring settlements. The nearest church is the St. John?s, Berkeley parish, which is 10 miles away. This made it difficult for locals to attend church regularly, so a chapel of ease was constructed, in the form of the Strawberry Chapel.

Built in 1725, the Strawberry Chapel is a rectangular brick building. It is considered simple by many. It was used for more than a century, until a new chapel was built in Cordesville.
