Noted mostly for its architecture, the University Neighborhood Historic District is a historic area in Columbia, South Carolina. It is basically a residential neighbourhood that was formed around the late 1800s to the early to mid 1900s. It is significant for reflecting the whole course of community planning in the city while it was continuously developing to the new millennium.
The University Neighborhood Historic District features a wide array of architectural designs deemed notable by most experts today. It is even described as having an architecturally distinctive neighbourhood, conveying its roots from the turn of the century.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2004, the University Neighborhood Historic District is composed of 160 contributing buildings, most of which are residential homes.
