Located in the mountain city of Walhalla, South Carolina is the Walhalla Graded School. This historic site was built in 1901 to serve as a school for the area. It was designed in the Classic Revival style by William Augustus Edwards, a noted Columbia architect who did tons of work around the state.
The Walhalla Graded School is composed of a school building when initially completed in the early 1900s. The auditorium and the east wing was added in 1913 and 194, while other classrooms were added in the 1950s.
The Walhalla Graded School is most noted for playing a huge role in the educational development of the county of Oconee. It was added on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.
