Built in 1914, the York County Courthouse is a historic courthouse in the city of York, South Carolina. It was designed by the highly esteemed William Augustus Edwards, a Darlington native architect who did lots of South Carolina courthouses aside from other buildings throughout Georgia and Florida.
The York County Courthouse is mostly known for its architecture. It is a monumental two-story brick building with a cross-axis plan which is a common element in Edwards? works among his nine courthouses. The exterior is mostly of the Classical Revival style, while the interiors feature Greek influences.
The York County Courthouse is still a common landmark in the city today. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1981.
