More than a zoo, the Bear Country USA is a unique drive-through wildlife park where visitors may view full-grown black bears in their natural habitat while remaining behind the safety of their own cars. Besides the 250-acre property, the Bear Country USA also features other North American mammals such as rocky mountain goats, buffalo, cougars and deer, bighorn and dall sheep, elk and reindeer, and bobcats.

All animals in the park had been hand-raised and every spring, visitors and staff look forward to a new batch of bear cubs. Whereas the survival rate for cubs in the wilds is at 40%, survival rate of captive cubs in the park is much higher at 98%.

Opened in August 1972 by Dr. Dennis Casey and his spouse Pauline, the zoo now boasts of the largest private collection of black bears.
