Also known as the Pink Castle due to its outer paint job, the Pickler Mansion is one of the best known attractions in Faulkton, South Dakota. It currently serves as a historical museum that is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day yearly.
Originally built in 1882 and 1894, the Pickler Mansion was once the home of the former South Dakota congressman, John Pickler and wife, Alice. It was made in a prairie Victorian architecture, composed of 20 rooms.
Visitors of the Pickler Mansion can see the original furnishings of the 19th century home. Folks can also access the secret room which served as a refuge during Indian attacks and storms, as well as the music room with its fanciful hand-carved woodwork.
