The Museum Of Fine Arts Houston is at the heart of the Museum District in Houston. Home to rich cultural memories, the museum displays a wide variety of art collections from Africa to the South Pacific. Artifacts and paintings from Asia and the Mediterranean can also be viewed along with some others from different continents. Founded in 1990 in the heart of Houston, it owns a vast collection of more than 56,000 works and embraces the art of antiquity to the present.

Visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the rich history of Houston by visiting the different rooms. The gallery also showcases African arts, masks, figures, ceremonial objects, combs, furniture, and other types of objects from the regions south of the Sahara Desert.

The museum also highlights a wide array of collections from the Glassell Collection of African Gold, American Sculpture and Painting, Masterworks by Frederic Remington and Antiquities, Asian Art. Also included are the Glassell Collection of Indonesian Gold, the Bayou Bend Collection, Adolpho Leirner Collection of Brazilian Constructive Art, Decorative Arts, The Helen Williams Drutt Collection, European Painting and many more. It also features the modern and contemporary sculpture by Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, Joan Mir? and Ellsworth Kelly.

Shopping at the museum is one of the activities guests can do. Available at the shopping center are books, jewelries, kitchen wares, archival prints, and posters among many others. The library is also open to those who just prefer to read on site. After a tour, a cafe is available in the museum for some relaxation. The museum also has a movie theater for a more enriched historical tour. A sculpture garden is also open for guests.

The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston is dubbed as one of best in the nation since it caters for people who want to learn about the humble beginnings of culture and arts, including its history.
