Al?s French Frys is a genuine Burlington landmark restaurant that has been serving delicious french fries and hamburgers since the 1940s. In fact, its original 1955 sign is still up, lighted and known as the largest signage in South Burlington (since they are exempted from a recently imposed signage law). Founded by Al and Genevieve Rusterholz, their perfect fries and no-nonsense fast food menu brought this roadside favorite to popularity. From its humble beginnings of being just an open counter without dine-in facilities located amidst a farmland, it still stands on the same spot and has grown together with the town. They have developed the fast food joint into a seat-in diner and the menu was revamped as well. Aside from the usual fries, hamburger and hotdogs, they now offer some chicken meals, sandwiches, wraps, salads and soups, not to mention, ice cream for dine-in or to-go.
