The Old Stone House Museum consists of 6 buildings sitting on 50 acres of property. The place itself seems like it had been untouched by time. The hillside town centers on a monumental stone dormitory, referred to as the Athenian Hall. It was built by country?s 1st African-American college graduate and state legislator, Rev. Alexander Twilight, in 1834-1836. Today, the stone house boasts of 21 exhibit rooms that focus on 19th century life in the northern part Vermont.

Its collection consists of textiles, furniture, photographs, folk and fine art as well as pottery. The exhibit actually extends to the house of Twilight, the traditional barn, and the other 2 historic houses.

The Museum can be found in the Brownington Village Historic District.
