The Bedford Museum and Genealogical Library exists for the maintenance of files for the purpose of research and the collection, preservation and interpretation of historical objects pertaining or related to the City of Bedford and Bedford County, Virginia.*
These objects are those that were made or used by the early inhabitants of Bedford or those that have contributed to their lives. Through these objects, the Museum is able to interpret and demonstrate the existence, survival, and lifestyle these early settlers.
The Museum houses these artifacts that depict the rich history of the Bedford area.* Visitors to the Museum will be able to see the Black History Room, Indian relics and other tools and implements in our Indian Room, artifacts related to the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World Wars, and many more.
The Museum features rooms that reflect life in Bedford starting from the time of the original Native Americans up to the middle of the 20th Century.* In order to provide a new experience to visitors every time and in to be able to showcase everything in the collection, the Museum changes the displays from time to time.
