The Boardwalk is a 28-feet wide walkway running parallel with the ocean on one side and lined with restaurants and hotels on the other side. It's considered to be one of the most popular destinations for both locals and tourists since it's constantly bustling with activity offering everyone a taste of anything and everything. Aside from the walking path, the boardwalk also offers a path for people on bicycles and skates. For the disadvantaged, handicap ramps are found at every block leading down to the beach. Historical walkthrough, entertainment venue, artist's den, children's playground - all these and more are offered by the boardwalk.

Besides the numerous restaurants and hotels, and the great scenery the boardwalk offers, people will find an array of historic sites and museums in the area. For those wanting to brush up on their history lessons, a lot of monuments and bronze sculptures are scattered along the path, as well as two museums chronicling Virginia Beach - The Atlantic Wildfowl and Heritage Museum and The Old Coast Guard Station.

A portion of the boardwalk is called The Virginia Legends Walk wherein people will find various statues honoring Virginians who made it into history books with their important contributions nationally and globally - Thomas Jefferson, Capt. John Smith, Douglas MacArthur, Robert E. Lee, Edgar Allen Poe, James Madison, Ella Fitzgerald and Arthur Ashe. Another section of the boardwalk is dedicated to the Navy, Marine Corp and Coast Guard aviation. The Naval Aviation Monument shows real people from the past and significant events, with granite storyboards etched in laser.

For the entertainment section, people will enjoy the numerous performances held at live entertainment stages and other attractions such as rides, fishing pier and video arcade. For special occasions, the Beach Street USA hosts events filled with a myriad of events such as bands, henna tattoos, face painting, jugglers, magicians, fire performers, puppets and more.
