The Captain Frederick Pabst Mansion was completed in 1892 and served as home to Captain Pabst, a beer baron famous all over the world. Besides being one of the leading brewing families in Milwaukee, the Pabsts also counted 5 archbishops among their numbers.
The Pabst Mansion boasts of having Flemish Renaissance Revival architecture and since its completion, it had been considered as a premier example of the city?s ?gilded age splendour?. With impressive ironwork and stained glass art, collection of rare masterpieces, and opulent wall coverings ? it?s no wonder that Milwaukee locals and others who are familiar with the Mansion referred to the 1890?s as the ?Pabst Decade?.
If you have additional time to spend in the area, be sure to sign up for the Pabst & Pabst Tour, which will feature not just a tour of the mansion but also of the brewery as well as including a delicious sample of Pabst from the Best Place Tavern.
