The Oktoberfest USA is one of the largest autumn festivals in Wisconsin. It is attended annually by an average of 150,000 people. Inspired by the German tradition, the Oktoberfest features a lot of music and entertainment, along with art shows, carnival rides, parades, the Miss La Crosse and Oktoberfest pageant, and a food festival.
The first Oktoberfest in Wisconsin was held as a three-day event in 1961, culminating on October 13 and climaxing on October 15. Every year, fraternal groups, local industries, and some residents in the area, work together in sponsoring the festivals. Today, the festival is held as a nine-day event and is filled with much merrymaking, with different types of beer presented to those who are involved. It is also highlighted by the performance of several known bands and entertainers.
