Housed in the beautiful 1892 Ivinson Mansion, the Laramie Plains Museum is a documentation of the town?s history and colorful past. It was created in 1966 as the Laramie Plains Museum Association, and acquired the old property in 1972.

Through the efforts of the organization, they have not only built a community museum but have also put the Ivinson Mansion in the National Register of Historic Places as well. In 1973, the museum moved to the historical building.

Aside from the 23-room main house, there?s also the Virginia Cottage. It was renamed by the association as the Alice Hardie Stevens Center, in honor to the lady who suggested that the group save the Ivinson Mansion. Today, this area is available for private occasions, while the main house serves as the community museum.
