The Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is a state recreational area operated by the California State Parks System. It is located in Humboldt County, California.
Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is cooperatively managed by the California Department of Parks and Recreation and the National Park Service like other nearby parks including the Del Norte Coast and Jedediah Smith State Parks and the Redwood National Park. Together, these parks hold some of the largest populations of old growth redwood forests in California amounting to about 45 percent of the whole old growth population in the state.
The park is generally consisted of old growth redwood forest and several prairie areas. Wildlife in the park include the chipmunk, squirrel, fox, skunk, bobcat, mountain lion, coyote, deer, Roosevelt elk, and the black bear.
