You mean he'll be leaving kuhnhenn's? Good for him, but that sucks for us.

Frankenmuth Brewery (Frankenmuth)--Good food, great looking, out of this world beers.

BARTS (Bay City)-- The chef and brewer want to be better, Art Dore cheaps them into a corner.

Midland Brewing (Midland)--The outside looks like a janitor supply sales warehouse. Inside looks cool. Food service is almost non existent, the beer is crappy except for one which is okay.

Mountain Town (Mt Pleasant)--Nice looks, good food, the beers are either good or crappy, about a 50/50 split.

Redwood Lodge (Flint)--Looks awesome, great food, out of this world beers.

Hopcat (Grand Rapids)--Go. Just go there now.

Founders (Grand Rapids)--Great beers with a great rotating selection, great looking, okay food.

Dragonmeade (Warren)--Looks like a janitor supply sales warehouse on the outside, okay looking inside, good food, great selection of great beers.

Arbor Brew (Ann Arbor)--Is showing it age inside, lots of wear, dank bathrooms that are hard to get to. Good food, mostly great beer with a few stinkers.

Blue Tractor (Ann Arbor)-- Good food, nice looking, okay brews.

Grizzly Peak (Ann Arbor)--Great food, good looking, medium quality beers.

I've been meaning to visit there, but haven't had the time lately. What are they brewing? Is it fairly large scale, or small batches switched out frequently?

Fairly small, but they have a regular lineup.

Menu

They have a couple of nice IPAs, a very decent oatmeal stout, and I really like their Dunkelweizen. They also have a couple of special edition beers.

They also make their own flavored vodkas which are very decent.

They had a groupon a few weeks ago for a $40 gift certificate for $20, hopefully they will run that promo again.

Check out their website for facebook, twitter.

Locally I enjoy Herford and Hops.

When I visit the kids, it's Founders in Grand Rapids. They had a great pulled pork sandwhich available at the Harvest fest in early October. Not sure if it's always on the menu. If it is, I'd recommend it!

Kilkenny's and Northpeak in Traverse City. I try to sneak up to Shorts Brewery in Bellaire once in awhile.

Founders has great sandwiches all around, but I agree on the pulled pork!

I'm not a big fan of Hereford and Hops. Granted, it's nice to have a brew pub in the area and I wish Iron Mountain had one, but their beer and food are both pretty average in my opinion.
