I can see why doctors might bail out of Medicare. My wife is on coumadin therapy for a mechanical heart valve. She self tests her inr once per week and her cardiologist manages her coumadin level. The cardiologist bills $38 per month for the service. Medicare allows $8.95, pays $7.16 and my insurance picks up the remaining $1.79. Routine office visits are pushed out to once per year probably since they don't reap a profit. I think this falls into the unresolved "doc fix" category.
