parkland's religious movies

The Parkland Theatre in Sayler Park doesn't show just third-run movies. The owner, Ed Miller, also shows contemporary Catholic-themed documentaries. I'm not sure where he gets them from. He advertises in the local Catholic publications and busloads come from everywhere to see these movies. (By everywhere, I mean as far as Dayton, 70 miles north.)

westwood danbarry

It sounds like the Westwood Danbarry is going back to being a second-run theater. Hallelujah! I missed going to the cheaper movies. There are some movies out there that I wouldn't pay full price for, but I enjoy them at a cheap price.

more screens

I think the last thing the world, much less Cincinnati, needs is another theater multiplex. And I don't think the current cineplexes need additional screens, because the owners would just end up showing the latest Batman or James Bond or Pixar sequel on four screens instead of three. And I really think that, for its size, Cincinnati has a good number of screens at the arthouse theaters.

What I do think is needed is a greater number of screens at the second-run theaters. That way more of the lesser-known or non-hit movies would have a chance to get to the second-run places, even if just for a week or two.

Sometimes these smaller films aren't something I'd be interested in paying $9 to see, but I would be willing to pay $3 to see them. And the greater number of weeks that the film is available to see would mean that I wouldn't have to worry about getting to see it in the first two weeks of its run.
