And liberals are accused of wanting a "nanny state"? This guy is nuts.

I don't see what you are complaining about... Is he forcing someone to do something? If so, I don't see where. Breastfeeding is better for mother, child, and the pocketbook of the gov't and the families. If he were forcing something then it would be a problem.

He's sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong. Just like trying to tell you how big a coke you can order. The government needs to stay out of everyone's business.

Again, I don't see where he is telling anyone what they can or can't do. It's not even close..

Again, I don't see where he should even be involved.

Okay, I understand that. I just don't see how altering a recommendation (which has only some value) compares to a state government legislating what one can and cannot purchase to eat.
And by the way, I don't know why people always think it is better to replace something that God (or "nature" as some would prefer ) provided for some manmade stuff. The sample formula is likely provided by the corporations anyway to get the parent to buy their stuff instead of feeding naturally. There is plenty of evidence that breastfeeding is better nutritionally, developmentally, and builds the relationship with the mother (evidence cited in the article).

Many women can't breastfeed, for various reasons.

So, are you saying that that is why folks use formula? Or are you saying that in a small number of cases that is why?

The impression I get is because generally people think it is "just as good" as breastmilk and it is easier. Also allows others to feed. Mother can eat whatever she wants. Mother can go back to work sooner. WIC pays for it for free. One common theme is that it isn't because it is more healthy for the child.

He is saying free commerce has shown a market for formula so it has become available.
The Governments responsibility imo is truth in labeling, that's it.

Oh almost forgot.....I here by volunteer to label the breasts.....that is all.

I think that is fair... However, I do think that it should be made very known to mothers-to-be the negative effects (statistically) of using formula and the known benefits of natural breastfeeding. I just think that formula has been wrongfully pushed by many and it now should be reversed.
