Post Mubarak Egypt
It appears that the Sinai peninsula is fast becoming a safe heaven to hostile elements, mainly jihadists, maybe also pro-Al-Qaeda elements, as central Egyptian authority has greatly eroded. Mortar attacks from Sinai on Israeli civilians are turning a once peaceful border into a war zone compounded by five Egyptian security personnel being caught in the cross-fire between the IDF and Palestinian terrorists. It seems that ousting of a bad government in a mid-eastern state does not guarantee favorable results.
