I'm not referring to battle damage, just mechanical wear and tear.

If you think Red China is our friend, you are delusional. The Chinese are doing to us economically what the Russians were too afraid to do to us militarily.

Ships are going to have wear and tear no matter what. We have places in the world that we must patrol and the best way to train sailors is to send them to sea.

Hah I know that! However, the tempo was definitely increased over the past 10 years. It's one of the longest "engagements" of our country's history - our navy needs ships to be replaced/repaired. They've never seen this type of prolonged and frequent usage.

Documentation?

I know that in the '80s and '90s it was normal for ships from here to be deployed for 6 months at a time, and I don't think they were ever in port for more than 3 months at a time. I don't see how deployment time has increased since 9-11.

You make it sound one sided. The Chinese never sold us a toothpick without compensation. If "the free market will fix it" why worry?

Once China owns the U.S., how will the free market fix the situation?

What happens when the Red Chinese stop buying U.S. government bonds?

What happens when the Red Chinese demand U.S. farmland as payment for debts and America no longer has the wherewithal to feed itself?

Got me? I do think it's a misnomer to refer to a manufacturing powerhorse getting rich on Capitalism as "Red". There is nothing remotely communistic about China's markets these days.

The People's Republic of China is Red because it is the People's Republic. In actuality it is more akin to Nazi Germany- business and industry do whatever the government says do in order to meet the government's foreign policy goals. Germany's foreign policy goal was World War II. Red China's goal is to take over the United States.
