would it really be that hard to imagine these kind of things for people who spoke in favor of evolution or anything doubting the bible? The scopes trial wasn't that long ago after all. Is this really the kind of country the people wanting god involved in our government really want?
would an anti-blasphemy law really be that far fetched from what so many christians want when they want religion in government/schools (but then turn around and say they are for freedom and have no understanding of how those two statements contradict each other) http://gawker.com/5993964/hundreds-o...emous-bloggers
<edit: removed personal attack> It is because of Christian faith you are enjoying your freedom of speech that you use to attack those whom you owe so much. I feel sorry for you.
based on what? you cannot just pretend every good thing is from Christianity, slavery/segregation etc were all supported by christian values, what we enjoy today is the freedom that the western world has enjoyed from moving away from hardcore christianity.

not now, Christianity ghas already had it's course of that mindset, it was called the dark ages and they labeled anyone who spoke against christians heretics and could be killed/tortured, so don't pretend to have the high road religion wise historically speaking.
and by the way the U.S. still has plenty of "blue laws", granted the worst have been ruled unconstitutional when challenged but there is a reason why in many states car dealerships are closed on sundays.... hint it is not by choice
Sorry, traditional Christians don't believe in dancing. Don't think they believe in getting stoned either.
But then again what is a 'traditional' Christian? I think that 'Christianity' has so many different sects/variations/interpretations that its far from what some (or even most) practice/believe.
IMO its often used as a crutch or an 'excuse' to justify an act of selfism. Which in itself gives Christians as a whole a bad name.
Go back 100 years when the church had a tighter control. Did you know that a man using profanity in front of a woman was grounds for a divorce. It was illegal for an unmarried couple to have sex. Sex was legal in the missionary position only. In some states, you could buy nothing, not even food on Sunday as recently as 50 years ago. There was a long list of restrictions on our freedoms.

yes, gun control was even far more strict back in the day as well as some towns in the wild west required you to leave your weapons with the sherrif as you entered.
spitting used to be an offense (and personally wish it still was)
woman used to be required to wear bathing suits so hefty that they were a drowning hazard, in some places it was illegal for a man to go topless.
the list goes, what these muslim countries are doing that we view so backwards is no different then wait happened in america before we gradually became more liberal, if we went back to our much much much more conservative roots where we allowed religion to play too big a role most christians would be disgusted at the loss of freedoms in their name.
and today it continues with christians being against gay marriage...... how will they look in 30 years?
