How long has it been?
How long has it been since there was a Republican Governor AND Lt Governor serving in Alabama??
That has only happened twice before. From 1868 - 1870 and from 1872 - 1874. From 1874 until 1987, the Democrats held both offices. Since 1987, it has been split with a Republican in one seat and Democrat in the other.
I found a list of Governors on Wikipedia that showed the Democrats held the Governors seat from 1874 til 1987. That's 113 years!! No wonder the school system in Alabama ranks 46th out of 50 states!!
