Well after 5 days of isolation, floodwaters have subsided here in Gympie. No complaints, other poor buggers around the state are in a much worse position, area larger than Germany and France combined is under water with 20 towns flooded, 13 killed and 61 people missing. Mother nature can be a bitch. An early start to the wet season, a cyclone and later a large rain depression saw well over 3 feet of rainfall in 3 weeks. With falls of 1 ft in an hour in places, causing flash flooding which washed away hundreds of cars and many homes around Toowoomba and The Lockyer Valley. Brisbane is now severely flooded. Not much food left on shelves here, hwy still cut, hopefully supplies will arrive soon. Power, phone and internet has been reconnected here, but still 20,000 homes flooded and 60,000 without power etc.
Battle on we will, going to Brisbane on the weekend to help with the cleanup, down there.
Cheers
