What was the last town on Route 66 to be bypassed by I-40?

I believe it is Barstow, California

I've been on RT 66 trip back 1994. Obviously on the parts I could find. Need to do that trip again someday and start from Chicago to end in Barstow.

Why stop in Barstow? Continue on to Santa Monica and get your feet wet!

You have a point there. Of course finding the time is another issue.

Yes, and the fact the road is poorly maintained and services are few and far between, make sure you have ample emergency equipment, fuel and water just in case.

Oatman, AZ.......don't know if this is the one you're referring to, but it is one you don't want to miss if you're traveling Route 66 in that area....definitely a quaint town with donkeys roaming the streets, gunfights and the works...where Clark Gable spent his honeymoon.....you can still see the room where he slept..
