Koi Ponds

Does anyone have a Koi pond or any sort of artificial pond?

My wife and BIL built one for my MIL, I'm thinking it would be cool to have.

I would love to build one, but we have lots of critters (bears, bobcats, coyotes and racoons) behind our house and unless the pond is deep enough, they will all be eaten. With the price of some koi, with prices averaging $50 a piece, I said, "forget it!"

I'm a bit shocked to see fancy carp at these prices. Koi were cheap once, really cheap.

Koi as cheap as $19.95 but the shipping is a killer unless you buy several.

Shipping is a flat rate of 49.00 per box in the continental United States, and only $10.00 for local Shipping no matter how many Koi you buy.
They make a good point about KHV in Koi forums. You need a quarantined area before releasing new fish into a pond. An above ground pool might suffice.
