That's true. They had Vietnamese villages built and even did survival training there.
I went to Ft Polk in the summer of 98 to get acclimated to the winters in Bosnia.
We had to keep wearing our flak jackets during the soaring heat and humidity so we would be used to wearing them in Bosnia.
That didn't make much sense because
1) Bosnia was cold as hell and we wanted to wear our flak jackets for the extra warmth
2) We had 2 months between Ft Polk and Bosnia to become unaccustomed to wearing our flak jackets
