If your ATT/SBC internet is down try this.

Number 1 It is better call for service after 6 PM when The local office is closed. You will then be switched to a more central location where the people are better trained and better able to help. The local personell are all very nice people to talk to but don't have the knowlege to handle all situations.

Number 2 ask to talk to a department called Retention. They are a bit better trained and more able to help in many cases if you are unable to get your problem resolved.

Number 3. ATT is huge and all the different departments are not very good at getting information to one another so always follow up and ask for and write down Tel. numbers and repair ticket numbers in case your problem persists.
