I agree also, see we have some common ground on some issues. I really never understood why it's so important to have prayer times in public school, led by the faculty or the student body. I think the time spent at school should be devoted to learning and teaching children how to function in society upon graduation. We don't have devoted times in the workplace for prayer, why is school prayer such a battleground. If a child feels he needs to pray before school, they can sit in their seat, close their eyes and say a prayer. If they want to pray as a group, let them meet with others and pray before or after school or at break times. I don't feel it's the job of the public school system to get involved in my family's religious values.
If I want my children to learn about religion I'll send them to the Sunday school and church that I feel best reflects my family's beliefs, we have a school system that can't teach kids where Europe is on a map, graduate kids who can't balance a check book, have no skills to get and hold a job. Why should I expect them to teach about salvation?
